What a remap does for a petrol BMW Roadster

Petrol engines are remapped by refining fuelling, ignition timing and, on turbocharged engines, boost control. Done carefully this releases performance the manufacturer left in reserve, giving sharper throttle response and a stronger top end.

BMW Z3 Roadster 3.0 231 against other Roadster engines

Of the 17 petrol Roadster engines in our data, this one comes 12th for power gain, which is 1 bhp below the Roadster petrol average of 21 bhp.

Across our whole catalogue the average petrol remap adds 27 bhp and 51 Nm, so this engine's 20 bhp and 40 Nm sits below that benchmark.
